Sleeping Beauty Disease

You know when you get really sleepy and you feel you just can't stand it anymore. I know most people have said, " Oh My Gosh! I wish I could sleep for a week!"

Well here is a different way to think about things when you say that. I had a friend show me this the other day.

It's about a girl, Louisa Ball, that has Kleine-Levin Syndrome, better know as Sleeping Beauty Disease. She is about 15 years old and lives in like Great Britain, United Kingdom, somewhere, it was never specific. But it says when she first began to develop this disease, it was like the flu that never wore off! Now at first I was kinda shocked that this was a disease to actually develop, it seems like it'd be something you would be born with for some reason? But anyways! She sleeps for like day at a time. I think that it said she's even slept up to like 2 weeks at a time. She misses school, vacations, holidays, everything! And it's not like she can just decide to wake up. I think if I slept through Christmas, my birthday, and like important days, I'd get really mad!

Can you imagine the disappointment!? Not being able to wake up! I mean it probably feels good ones you're asleep, but ones you're awake, you realize what all you've missed.

So the next time you think about sleeping for a really long time, think about her! It should wake you up!

I've posted the website it was found on. But there are other site you can find more about it and I found some YouTube videos, but I haven't watched any of them. So I don't know if they are worth watching or whatever. I just thought was really interesting that things like this exist?!

I also heard about this other disease in Biology 2 the other day. I'm going to look in up later and post about it too! :)

Something To Brighten Your Day! :D

I was just doing my American History homework. And Now we are in the early 1960's; around time John F. Kennedy was assassinated. And after that happened, of course, you know Lyndon Johnson was president now and was continuing what JFK was doing, to rebuild the U.S. after World War II.

Well in the book it's going into where Johnson was about to start War on Poverty. And it says that on Johnson's first day in office, November 23, 1963, he was told Kennedy's planned antipoverty proposals. And it's says that when Congress passed the Area Redevelopment Act in 1961, Kennedy told an adviser something that really made me stop and think.

"I want to go beyond the things that have already been accomplished."

I really like this saying a lot. It gives me a reassuring to keep going. It just makes me smile! And it makes me want to do this same thing! I want to continue with my goals and dreams, and just live life to the fullest!

I'm not sure exactly why this stuck out so much. I'm not even into history that much? So I posted this in hoping this brighten someone's day the way it did mine! :D

The Song of My Pastor

In my English III class last week, we were reading Walt Whitman's poem 'I Hear America Singing'. It's about how the basic jobs in America are heroic jobs and how each person that does these jobs, in their own, sings a different song no matter what they do. It's also about how Americans takes pride in what jobs they choose.

When we finished reading the poem and discussing it, we got our assignment: To make a song of a job of someone, or what you wanted to be after college or whatever.

I thought long and hard, I wanted this song (later becoming a poem, there's no melody or anything) to actually mean something, not just to be another assignment. So I started thinking and I thought, "What better person could I use than my pastor?" So this is what I came up with, it's not the best I could have done, but I think it's at least acceptable?

The Song of My Pastor
Feb. 4, 2010

A man with great love and care.
A man who's always there.

Spending his day reaching for the lost,
Not always worrying about the cost.

With many and much on his mind,
He's always smiling and so kind.

Every service, he pours out his heart,
In hoping someone will make a fresh start.

All day and night, he thinks about the church,
Making sure there's no one out waiting for him to search.

This is the big job of my pastor,
So that we can all go see our Master.

What you think???
