In the book of Jonah it talks about how he was commanded by God to go to Nineveh to preach. And Jonah didn't like that too much so he got on a boat to Tarshish (the opposite way) And God didn't like that, so he put a great storm in the sea until Jonah told the people he was the reason for the storm and for them to throw him over board to stop the storm. Then he was eaten by a fish. And for three days and nights he stayed inside this fish, until it spit him out in Nineveh. How ironic! :) Then he finally went and preached like he was suppose to in the first place.
In 2 Kings 5:1-14, it talks about Naaman, who was a leper. And His wife's maid told him about Elisha, who could heal him. So he went expecting to be miraculously healed? But Elisha told him to go dip into the Jordan river seven times. And Naaman wasn't happy about that because he wanted to atleast go to a clean river near by, but he had to go far off to the muddy Jordan river! But he did it anyways, but he went expected it to happen gradually. He thought every time he went under, he'd get a little better each time...That's not how that went either. But hee came up the seventh time with skin like a new born baby!
I just recently faced a possible door that could be opened in my future and I just really didn't want to do it! I tried to just do what I usually do when I don't want to think about something and just block it out....That defiantly didn't work! I was told 3 times by 1 very important person in my life. The funny thing is, she didn't know until I went to tell her! And the day I finally half-way give in, I was just so overwhelmed with it that I couldn't push it away any longer! Every time I turned around, BAM! It smacked me in the face! And it continued the next day, until I finally acknowledged it and started working towards what I feel I'm lead to do....
Connect Point:
With Jonah: I felt I was suppose to start working on something, but I just pushed it away and tried to run from it, but I was lead back to square one until I finally gave up and started in that direction.
With Naanam: I didn't want to start it, didn't get mad, just ignored it because it's not very convenient. It's actually something totally opposite of what I'm use to. And now I kind of want to do it. No, it's not going to be easy. But if it's what I gotta do...I gotta do it??? Or I'll end the same way I was before....
Open Up Your Eyes
Jeremy Camp
Open up your eyes
And see these warning signs
Breaking through your heart and all the reason of your mind
Open up to find
Your action leaves behind
The very hope that's given for the world to feel alive
Oh
Chorus
And the time has come to realize
And see the plan you've been designed for
So face the fear of all unknown
And see the heart inside
So open up your eyes
So open up your eyes
Throw yourself aside
And hear the gentle cry
Of the voice of peace that gave up all to fill the void inside
Give away the fight,
Release your foolish pride
The very bond is broken down you need to leave behind
Oh
Chorus
And the time has come to realize
And see the plan you've been designed for
So face the fear of all unknown
And see the heart inside
So open up your eyes
So open up your eyes
Open up your eyes
Can you sense the feeling that there's more than what you know? (more than what you know)
It's a fire that burns within that only seems to grow (only seems to grow)
There's a price that's given and which only love can pay
And the time is here and now, don't let it fade away
So open up your eyes, open up your eyes
So open up your eyes, open up your eyes
Chorus
And the time has come to realize
And see the plan you've been designed for
So face the fear of all unknown
And see the heart inside
So open up your eyes
So open up your eyes
(While I was doing this post, I was listening to my iPod and this song came on. It was like God sent! Perfect! Explains exactly the point I was trying to prove!)
